Our U&A initiative enhances the usability and accessibility of government digital services. By developing specialized tools, leading professional workshops, and creating educational resources, we champion a “shift-left” approach. We experiment with emerging tech (i.e. LLMs) on how they can help empower and improve citizens' experience with government digital services while still relying on traditional methods to to guide us towards the goal.

Learning Outcomes

- Gain experience with emerging technology like LLMs, crafting AI Agents for purposes such as browser use, adaptive UI etc. - Gain hands-on development experience in crafting high-quality and maintainable code as well as using common development tools and processes such as Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab Runners) and Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP) - Gain experience in working with working in cross-functional teams, communicate effectively with other functions to translate requirements into technical requirements with developers, designers and product managers. - Contribute actively to shaping the product, raise concerns, take initiative and ownership of your work just like a regular engineer. - Learn how to craft highly usable and accessible websites, the techniques involved and the end-to-end experience in crafting one.

Prerequisites

- Knowledge in common programming languages like Javascript/Typescript, Python or Java - Knowledge in common web development and backend frameworks like React, NextJS, Fastify, NestJS, FastAPI - Knowledge in building AI Agents, LLM-powered applications and their related frameworks (LiteLLM, Claude Agent SDK etc.) would be a plus - Knowledge in common DevOps and developer tools like Git, GitLab, CI/CD, knowledge in common cloud service providers like AWS, GCP will be a plus.
