Build the Future of Government Innovation 🚀 LaunchPad is the Whole-of-Government (WOG) innovation platform that empowers public officers to turn ideas into real solutions. From nationwide ideathons to AI-powered idea discovery, LaunchPad helps agencies collaborate to solve complex public sector challenges. We're rebuilding LaunchPad into a modern, scalable platform using Next.js and Optical (Directus), the Singapore Government's secure headless content management system. This is an opportunity to contribute to a flagship government product that supports innovation across agencies. As an intern, you won't just observe—you'll build production-ready features alongside product managers, designers and engineers. Your work will be deployed to a live platform used by thousands of public officers across the Singapore Government. Learning Outcomes

What You'll Build: - Build user-facing features for the LaunchPad Ideathon module, including idea management, collaboration and engagement capabilities. - Develop modular, reusable frontend components using React and Next.js, powered by content from Optical (Directus). - Progressively take ownership of backend capabilities through Optical (Directus) Flows, API integrations and workflow automation as your confidence grows. - Use AI-assisted development workflows (e.g. Claude, GitHub Copilot and GovTech AI tools where applicable) to accelerate development, debugging and documentation. - Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and engineers throughout the product development lifecycle—from feature design to deployment. By the End of Your Internship, You Will: - Build and deploy production-ready frontend features using React and Next.js. - Gain practical experience designing applications using modern headless CMS architecture with Optical (Directus). - Learn how to integrate APIs and AI services into real-world digital products. - Apply AI-assisted software development practices to improve productivity, debugging and code quality. - Experience agile product development within a cross-functional team delivering digital services compliant within the Singapore Government tech ecosystem.

Prerequisites

Frontend Proficiency: Strong grasp of JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks like React or Next.js. API & Data Fluency: Understanding of how to fetch and display data from REST APIs (experience with Headless CMS platforms like Directus, Strapi, or Contentful is a plus). Cloud & AI Curiosity: Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts (e.g., how prompts and embeddings work) and an eagerness to learn the Singapore Government Tech Stack (SGTS). Product Mindset: You care about why we are building a feature, not just how. You are ready to participate in the ideathon lifecycle from brainstorming to deployment. (Preferred)
