The Infrastructure and Facility Services Division (IFSD) is responsible for the planning, development, operation and maintenance of MOE's school infrastructure and facilities. To support IFSD's digital transformation efforts, the Infrastructure and Facility Services Digital Office (IFDO) drives the adoption of digital, data and AI-enabled solutions across the infrastructure lifecycle. Together, IFSD and IFDO work across four key domains: Plan, Build, Operate and Maintain, with the aim of delivering a more integrated, data-driven and efficient approach to managing school infrastructure. The four domains cover: - Plan – leveraging data, analytics and geospatial technologies to support demand forecasting, infrastructure master planning and long-term decision-making. - Build – improving project delivery through digital workflows, AI-assisted processes and smarter project management practices. - Operate – enhancing day-to-day operations through smart facilities management, automation, robotics and IoT-enabled solutions. - Maintain – optimising maintenance and facilities management through digital systems, predictive maintenance and AI-driven insights. Interns will be attached to IFDO and work on initiatives within one of these four infrastructure lifecycle domains. Depending on the project, interns may support activities such as data analysis, user research, process improvement, solution design, prototype development, system implementation, testing and stakeholder engagement. Interns will gain hands-on experience working on real-world digital transformation projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve how school infrastructure is planned, delivered and managed.

Learning Outcomes

- Full-Stack Software Development: Gain hands-on experience in designing, developing and maintaining end-to-end digital solutions, including frontend user interfaces, backend services and cloud-based applications that support real-world public sector operations. - Software Engineering & Programming Excellence: Strengthen proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g. JavaScript, TypeScript, Go or Python) while applying industry best practices in software design, testing, version control, code quality and agile development. - API & Systems Integration: Develop practical skills in designing, building and integrating secure, scalable and high-performance APIs and services, enabling seamless data exchange across web applications, mobile platforms and enterprise systems.

Prerequisites

- Knowledge in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field will be a plus - Those without experience are welcome to apply - Familiar with ReactJS, JavaScript, CSS, NodeJS, Python, SQL, NoSQL - Project experience with application design and architecture - Project experience in implementing AI models, including GenAI and ML - Project experience in implementing Geospatial solutions such as MapBox, MapLibre, OneMap and any other geospatial tools - Ability to fine-tune and optimise various AI models to meet specific needs - Ability to work with LLM and their equivalents (e.g. GPT, LangChain) - Knowledge of Agile Methodology and DevSecOps - Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) - Good consideration of usability and design thinking is a plus - Active learner and advocator for new software technologies and practices - Good analytical and problem-solving skills - Good stakeholder management, presentation and communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
