Low-key tired of internships where "exposure" means meetings and trackers? Same. Here, you will actually build and ship something real. You will be the engineer among a team of GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) specialists — the people responsible for helping government teams launch technology safely, without the chaos, surprise incidents, or 47-step forms. Your job is to cook up solutions that make GRC work smarter: early-warning systems, workflow automation or Agentic AI that cuts through the manual grind and delivers something that actually matters. That might mean building something from scratch or rigorously evaluating whether an existing tool is actually worth using. Agentic AI is opening up new possibilities for how GRC work gets done — and you will be at the frontier of figuring out what that looks like in practice. You will leave with a rare dual specialisation in engineering and GRC: knowing how to ship technology and make it safer, smarter, and ready to scale — the kind of experience that actually shows up on your CV and opens doors.

Learning Outcomes

- A portfolio-ready prototype or evaluation you can demo and talk about in future interviews — whether that is an Agentic AI workflow, an early-warning system or an automation tool built on real problem statements, not toy projects. - Real ownership across the full cycle: finding the problem, speaking with users, building, testing and pitching your solution to engineers, business stakeholders and senior leadership. - A deep appreciation of how mature tech organisations apply GRC in practice — not just the high-level principles, but how they play out across product, engineering and governance teams. - A rare dual specialisation in engineering and GRC that opens doors into cybersecurity, responsible AI, risk tech, product or technology governance. Beyond the personal growth, you will be contributing to something that matters — helping Singapore Government teams work smarter, catch issues earlier and deliver better digital services to citizens.

Prerequisites

- You are studying computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, data science, engineering or something related. - You are comfortable using AI coding tools such as Claude Code. - You have some familiarity with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure. - You are excited about what AI can do and have hands-on experience or a strong interest in building with LLMs or Agentic AI frameworks. - You enjoy figuring out how things work — and why they sometimes do not. - You are comfortable starting from zero and figuring things out as you go. - You can ask good questions, share your thinking and build across engineering, product and governance teams. - General awareness or interest in cybersecurity, data security controls or compliance frameworks is a plus.
