Tech – Software Engineer: Digital Dojo - Building MDDI's DDAI Capability

Digital Dojo is MDDI's capability-building programme for Digital, Data and AI (DDAI), designed to equip officers with the skills, confidence and problem-solving mindset to apply technology meaningfully in their work. The programme goes beyond classroom training. Officers learn through hands-on application, progressing from foundational DDAI literacy to independently applying technology at work, redesigning how work gets done within teams, and ultimately building stronger DDAI capability within their divisions. Digital Dojo supports this through learning pathways, hands-on programmes, Dojo Learning Labs, Dojo Clinics, Dojo Cafés and the Digital Dojo platform. This reflects the programme's evidence-based belt progression from foundational literacy through practical application and team-level transformation. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will build products and technical solutions that strengthen and scale the Digital Dojo programme. You will work with the team to identify opportunities where technology can improve the learning experience, reduce operational friction, provide better visibility into capability development, or enable new ways for officers to learn and apply DDAI skills. You will also have opportunities to support Dojo Clinics, where officers bring real work problems, prototypes and implementation challenges for guidance. This gives you exposure to a wide range of problem spaces across MDDI and the opportunity to apply your engineering skills to prototype and explore solutions alongside officers. You will be given meaningful ownership of what you build, from understanding the problem and users, through prototyping and engineering, to putting working solutions into the hands of the people who will use them.
