Join GovTech's Finance Data & Operations team and build software solutions that transform how finance processes operate. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will design and develop automation tools, web applications and system integrations that improve productivity and reduce manual work across Finance. You will work on real-world engineering challenges, ranging from API integrations and workflow automation to AI-assisted applications and internal productivity platforms. You will collaborate with Finance, Product and Engineering stakeholders to understand business problems and translate them into scalable digital solutions. Throughout the internship, you will gain hands-on experience in modern software engineering practices, cloud technologies, AI-assisted development and government digital platforms. Learning Outcomes

- Design and build web-based applications and internal productivity tools - Develop and integrate APIs with GovTech and third-party platforms - Build workflow automation solutions to eliminate manual processes - Apply software engineering best practices including version control, testing and code reviews - Use Python and AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development - Work with databases and APIs to manage and exchange data - Develop lightweight front-end and back-end applications - Apply Agile and Design Thinking methodologies to deliver user-centric solutions - Collaborate with Finance and operational teams to understand requirements and deliver digital products - Gain exposure to cloud-native and government technology platforms

Prerequisites

Technical Skills - Proficiency in Python or another programming language - Familiarity with software development fundamentals - Basic understanding of APIs and web technologies - Familiarity with Git or version control concepts - Interest in automation, application development and system integration - Enthusiasm for AI-assisted coding tools (experience is a bonus) Personal Attributes - Strong problem-solving mindset - Curious and eager to learn new technologies - Proactive and self-driven - Comfortable navigating ambiguity and experimenting with solutions - Able to think systematically about process improvement Soft Skills - Clear and effective communicator - Able to translate business requirements into technical solutions - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills - Detail-oriented and structured - Comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
