Spend your internship on something that matters. Work on a Whole-of-Government system that plays a part in how citizens' appeals are handled, with a direct focus on making the process faster and more effective for citizens and public officers.
Solve problems at scale. Tackle real problems involving integrations with agencies' existing case and customer relationship management systems, appeal routing, complex workflows, response times, and SLAs, where small improvements can make a difference across many agencies and citizens.
Learn how systems work together, and make them work together yourself. Gain hands-on experience building integrations, working with APIs and data flows, and solving the practical challenges of connecting systems within a larger ecosystem. Learn how software is designed and delivered within the boundaries of security, governance, existing systems, and different stakeholder needs.
Build with a modern technology stack. Get hands-on experience across the frontend and backend using technologies such as: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Express, MySQL, Redis, Socket.IO, BullMQ, Docker and AWS. Learn how these different components come together to support a production system, from user interfaces and APIs to databases, background jobs, real-time updates, and cloud infrastructure.
Take ownership in a small team. Work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team and take ownership of meaningful pieces of work, from understanding the problem, to designing and building a solution, to putting it into production. Along the way, gain exposure to modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, and learn how to evaluate and safely bring rapidly developed solutions into existing production-grade systems.
