The PA Community Portal App is a digital gateway for residents to connect, participate, and build a stronger sense of community in their neighbourhood. It brings together local updates, events, volunteer opportunities, and neighbourhood services in one place — making it easy for residents to discover ways to engage, help one another, and shape the community they live in.

Learning Outcomes

Applying UX Process End-to-End Gained hands-on experience in executing the full UX process—from research and problem definition to wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Translating Research into Design Decisions Learned how to synthesize user insights and convert findings into actionable design improvements aligned with user needs and business goals. Cross-Functional Collaboration Developed skills in working with product managers and developers, understanding constraints, and communicating design rationale clearly. Iterative Design & Feedback Integration Understood the importance of iteration by incorporating stakeholder and user feedback to refine solutions. Time Management in Agile Environment Improved ability to prioritise tasks and deliver design outputs within sprint timelines.

Prerequisites

Figma Proficiency Basic ability to create wireframes, components, auto-layout, and simple interactive prototypes. Understanding of UX Fundamentals Knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability heuristics, and basic research methods. Basic User Research Awareness Familiarity with interviews, surveys, or usability testing concepts (even at academic level). Communication & Collaboration Skills Ability to articulate design decisions clearly and work within a cross-functional team. Design Portfolio Have a design portfolio with 1-2 projects that showcase a strong understanding and application of the design process
