The AI Programme at MOE designs and builds AI products for Singapore's education system. Its products include LangBuddy (a language learning platform where students practise speaking through AI conversations), Markly (an AI marking assistant for teachers), and our AI governance portal. The portfolio is still growing. You will work one or more of these products: running discovery, designing and facilitating workshops, shaping flows and interfaces, and building your own designs in code with AI tools. What you work on will shift as the programme does, so this suits someone comfortable with ambiguity who wants a say in where the work goes. We are a small team that moves quickly. The products sit at different stages, from early prototypes to tools already in schools, so there is room to work on both new concepts and things teachers use today.

Learning Outcomes

AI-Native Design Practice: Use AI tools across the design process, from early exploration to working prototypes. Designing for AI: Learn the interaction patterns specific to AI products, including conversational interfaces and handling AI output that is wrong. Design Engineering: Build your own designs in the codebase, and work with engineers on what ships. Research and Workshop Design: Plan and facilitate research sessions and workshops with users and stakeholders, and turn the findings into design decisions. Working Across a Product Portfolio: See how design decisions carry across products at different stages, from early prototypes to live tools.

Prerequisites

- Pursuing a degree or diploma in design, interaction design, HCI, or a related field, with a portfolio showing product or interface design work - Able to design and facilitate research sessions and workshops, including planning the structure and synthesising the findings - Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping your own direction - While not required, it is a bonus if you are comfortable reading and modifying frontend code, familiar with FigJam or Miro, or already use AI tools like Codex or Claude Code in your own work
